Challenges Faced by Playback Singers
After Arijit Singh’s announcement, singer Abhijeet Sawant shared the struggles of playback singers. He talked about low payments, no royalties, and how the system often exploits singer.
“Many singers earn very little because the industry doesn’t want their voices to overshadow the movie. Musicians rarely receive royalties for their songs. Some international artists earn enough to live comfortably from a few songs, but most of us can’t,” Abhijeet explained.
Why Singers Accept Unfair Deals
Abhijeet also said that many singers accept small payments because they want to work with big stars or in hit films. “Singers are willing to work for less just to get a chance. If they refuse, someone else will take the opportunity. That’s why exploitation continues,” he added.

“Hello, Happy New Year to all. I want to thank you all for giving me so much love all these years. I am announcing that I will no longer take on new playback singing project. I am calling it off. It was a wonderful journey.”
