Still many people do not follow them which forces the traffic police to take tough action. These rules are created to keep people safe and to spread awareness about road safety.
Helmet Rule: Strict Fine for Riding Without a Helmet
The Delhi Traffic Police clearly states that anyone riding a bike or scooter without a helmet can be fined up to ₹1,000. Not only this, the rider’s driving license can be suspended for three months. This rule helps reduce head injuries and saves lives.
Using Mobile Phone While Driving
Using a phone while driving is one of the biggest causes of road accidents. If anyone is caught using a mobile phone while driving, they will have to pay a fine of ₹5,000. This rule applies to all vehicles to ensure that drivers stay focused on the road.
Big Fines for Missing Documents
If a driver does not carry their driving license, they may be fined ₹5,000.
For not having vehicle insurance, the fine is up to ₹2,000.
There are also rules for three months’ jail or community service in some cases.
If a vehicle does not have a pollution certificate (PUC), a fine of ₹10,000 is imposed.
If caught again without insurance, the fine increases to ₹4,000.
Triple Riding and Road Racing
Carrying three people on a two-wheeler is illegal. If caught, the rider will be fined ₹1,000.
Dangerous driving or racing on public roads is a serious offence. For this, the fine is ₹5,000.
If a driver does not give way to emergency vehicles like ambulances or fire brigades a ₹10,000 fine can be imposed.

Jumping Traffic Signals and Overloading
Jumping a red light is a major violation and comes with a fine of ₹5,000.Driving a vehicle with extra weight (overloading) can lead to a fine of up to ₹20,000. This rule is made to prevent accidents and keep traffic smooth.
When a Minor is Caught Driving
If a minor (underage person) is found driving any vehicle, their parents or guardians will face a heavy fine of ₹25,000.
They may also get up to three years in jail, and the vehicle’s registration will be cancelled.
The minor will not be allowed to get a driving license until the age of 25
