UP Government Increases Solar Pump Subsidy to 70% for Farmers – Big Relief Under PM-KUSUM Scheme

The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a major decision to help farmers reduce irrigation costs. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s government has increased the subsidy on solar pumps to 70% under the PM-KUSUM (Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha Evam Utthan Maha Abhiyan) scheme.

This move will help farmers cut their diesel and electricity expenses and encourage eco friendly farming. The increased subsidy will provide huge financial support to millions of farmers across the state.

What is PM-KUSUM?

Under the PM-KUSUM scheme, both the central government and the Uttar Pradesh government together provide financial assistance to farmers for installing solar pumps. The subsidy amount varies depending on the pump’s capacity.

Solar Pump Subsidy Details

 2 HP to 5 HP Solar Pumps

Farmers will receive 70% subsidy on these pumps.

  • Central Government gave 30%
  • UP Government gave 40%

Farmers will pay only 30% of the total cost.

5 HP to 10 HP Solar Pumps

These higher capacity pumps also come with a strong subsidy.

  • Central Government gave 30%
  • UP Government gave 30%

Farmers will get a 60% subsidy and will pay the remaining 40% amount.
With this one time investment, farmers can enjoy free irrigation for many years.

How to Apply for PM-KUSUM Scheme in Uttar Pradesh

Farmers can apply online to get the subsidy. The process is simple and fully digital.Steps to Apply:

1. Visit the official website of UP Agriculture Department or the PM-KUSUM portal.Click on “PM-KUSUM Scheme Application”.

2. Fill in the registration form with your name, address, mobile number, and Aadhaar card details.

3. Upload all required documents:

  • Aadhaar card
  • Land documents (khasra/khatauni)
  • Bank passbook copy
  • Passport size photo

4. Choose the solar pump capacity you need (2 HP, 3 HP, 5 HP, 7.5 HP, or 10 HP).

5. Pay the online application fee.

Verification & Installation Process

After submitting the application the department will verify your documents. Once verification is completed you will deposit your share of the money. After this the approved vendor will install the solar pump on your farmland.
