Big Leadership Change at Eternal Ltd
Deepinder Goyal who founded Eternal Ltd, has resigned from his role as Group CEO with immediate effect. He will now serve as the Vice Chairman of the company, subject to shareholder approval. This move comes after nearly 18 years of leading the company.
Albinder Dhindsa, who is currently the CEO of Blinkit and a close associate of Goyal, has been named the new Group CEO of Eternal Ltd.
Why Deepinder Goyal Stepped Down
In a letter to shareholders, Deepinder Goyal said he wants to work on new and high-risk ideas that do not fit well within a public company like Eternal Ltd.
He explained that if these ideas were suitable for Eternal, he would have worked on them within the company. However
Eternal Ltd needs to stay focused on its main business and long-term growth.
Also being the CEO of a listed company in India requires full attention due to legal and regulatory responsibilities. This change allows Eternal to stay focused, while Goyal explores new ideas separately.
Albinder Dhindsa Takes Over Daily Operations
With this leadership change all day-to-day business decisions will now be handled by Albinder Dhindsa.
Goyal praised Dhindsa’s leadership, especially his role in making Blinkit a strong business after its acquisition. He said Dhindsa has proven execution skills and the mindset of a founder.
Blinkit will continue to be Eternal Ltd biggest growth opportunity under Dhindsa’s leadership.
What Will Not Change at Eternal Ltd
Even after stepping down as CEO, Deepinder Goyal will remain closely involved with the company. He will continue to focus on:
- Long-term strategy
- Company culture and values
- Leadership development
- Ethics and corporate governance
The current management structure will also stay the same, with each business having its own CEO and full responsibility.
ESOPs and Shareholder Value
As part of the transition Deepinder Goyal said his unvested ESOPs will go back to the ESOP pool. This will help future leaders of Eternal Ltd and support long-term employee retention without adding extra cost for shareholders.
He also made it clear that his financial future is still strongly linked to Eternal Ltd’s success.
Future Plans and Vision
Deepinder Goyal said this leadership change will not slow down the company. Instead, it will make Eternal Ltd stronger and more focused.
He shared his long-term vision of making Eternal one of India’s most valuable companies, serving one billion customers, and creating jobs for millions of people.
“This is only a change in role, not in commitment. Eternal is still my life’s work,” Goyal said.
This leadership transition shows Eternal Ltd’s plan to grow steadily while giving space for innovation beyond its core business.
