The State Bank of India (SBI) has issued major important update for its customers. The bank has announced that the mCASH service on the OnlineSBI and YONO Lite apps will be completely discontinued from November 30, 2025.
From December 1, 2025, customers will no longer be able to send or receive money through mCASH without registration. The mCASH link-based transfer option will also stop working.
SBI shared on its official website:
“mCASH services on OnlineSBI and YONO Lite will be withdrawn after 30.11.2025, as per the latest update. Customers are advised to use UPI, IMPS, NEFT, RTGS, and other secure options for sending money to third-party accounts.”
What Is mCASH?
mCASH is a quick and convenient service offered by SBI that allowed users to send money without any registration. Customers could transfer money using just the receiver’s mobile number or email ID through OnlineSBI or the State Bank Anywhere app.
The receiver could have an account in any bank. SBI sent a special payment link via SMS or email along with an 8-digit passcode. After entering the required details—bank account number, IFSC code, mobile number or email, and the passcode—the money was credited instantly.

The mCASH app had two features:
- Claim: To receive and claim money sent by others
- Favourites: To save up to five account numbers and IFSC codes for quick access
Users could download the app from the Google Play Store and log in using an mPIN.
Why SBI Is Discontinuing mCASH
SBI has explained that there are now better, safer, and faster digital payment options available. With the rapid growth of UPI and its strong security system money transfers have become simpler and more reliable.
Due to this, SBI is promoting modern digital payment methods.
What Customers Should Do Now
After mCASH shuts down, customers should use the following services for money transfers:
- UPI (Unified Payments Interface)
- IMPS (Immediate Payment Service)
- NEFT (National Electronic Funds Transfer)
- RTGS (Real-Time Gross Settlement)
These digital payment methods are safer, quicker, and more dependable for future transactions.
