The demand for digital identity records is growing fast in India day by day. From school admissions to passport applications and government schemes verified documents are required everywhere. In this process, the Birth Certificate Link to Aadhaar Card system has become extremely important. The government has started linking both documents to keep a child’s identity record clear, updated, and stored in one place from the moment they are born.

Why Birth Certificate Link to Aadhaar Card Is Important

Earlier, parents had to apply separately to link a birth certificate with Aadhaar. Now the government has simplified the whole process by merging both into one step. This saves time, reduces paperwork or avoids repeating the same details for every government service in the future.

How Linking Happens at the Time of Birth

When a child is born in a hospital, their details are added at the registration center. This information is uploaded directly to the online CRS (Civil Registration System) portal, including the child’s:

  • Name
  • Date and time of birth
  • Gender
  • Parents’ details

In the new system, Aadhaar processing also starts here. While young children cannot give biometrics immediately a temporary Aadhaar number is issued first. This can be updated later when biometrics are taken. Parents must provide their Aadhaar numbers and address details. Once everything matches the birth certificate and Aadhaar get automatically linked. Since the system is fully digital there is no need to visit offices or stand in queues.

How to Link an Already Existing Birth Certificate with Aadhaar

If the child is older or you already have both documents you can still complete the process easily:

  1. Visit the Civil Registration System (CRS) website.
  2. Create an account using the General Public Sign Up option.
  3. Log in and open the Birth Registration section.
  4. Choose the Aadhaar Link option.
  5. Fill birth registration number, Aadhaar number, and the OTP received on your mobile.

If the details match the documents are instantly linked. If there are errors in the birth certificate they must be corrected first. In some states this service is also available at UIDAI Aadhaar centers.

Benefits of Linking Birth Certificate with Aadhaar

Once the Birth Certificate Link to Aadhaar Card is completed, tasks like school admission, insurance, passport application, scholarships or government scheme benefits become quicker & smoother. It ensures one verified identity record for life starting from birth.
