New Delhi: Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama has won his first Grammy Award, creating history at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards. The Dalai Lama Grammy Award was given in the category of Best Audiobook, Narration, and Storytelling Recording for his spoken word album Meditations: The Reflections of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
The award was announced during the pre-telecast ceremony, which was live-streamed on YouTube before the main Grammy event in Los Angeles.

After winning the award, the Dalai Lama shared a message full of the humility and gratitude. He said that he does not see the Grammy Award as a personal success, but as a reminder of shared responsibility among all human beings.

“I receive this recognition with gratitude and humility. I does’nt see it as something personal. It is a reminder of our shared responsibility toward peace, compassion, care for nature, and unity of humanity,” the Dalai Lama said in a post shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account.

The Dalai Lama said that values like peace, kindness, environmental care, and understanding humanity as one family are important for the well-being of all people in the world. He also expressed happiness that the Dalai Lama Grammy Award will help spread these messages to a wider audience.

In this category, the Dalai Lama’s audiobook competed with well-known names such as Trevor Noah, Ketanji Brown Jackson, Kathy Garver, and Fab Morvan. Despite strong competition, the Dalai Lama Grammy Award went to his audiobook, making the win special and memorable.
