Jana Nayagan Update: Madras High Court Allows Vijay Film Makers to Withdraw CBFC Case

Jana Nayagan, the upcoming film of Thalapathy Vijay, has received an important legal update. On Tuesday, the Madras High Court allowed the makers of Jana Nayagan to withdraw their writ petition filed against the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), as per reports.

After this decision, the film can now be sent to the CBFC’s revising committee, which is the next step in the censor process.

Why the Jana Nayagan Case Was Withdrawn

Earlier, KVN Productions, the production house behind Jana Nayagan, had moved the court over censor issues. Later, their lawyer, Vijayan Subramanian, submitted a request to the Madras High Court asking permission to withdraw the case.

The matter was placed before Justice P.T. Asha, who allowed the withdrawal on Tuesday.

Jana Nayagan Release Delay Explained

Jana Nayagan is a social drama and is said to be Vijay’s last film before entering full-time politics. The movie was first planned for a Pongal release in mid-January.

However, the release was delayed after legal developments related to the censor certificate. A single-judge bench earlier asked the Censor Board to issue a U/A certificate quickly.

High Court Observation and CBFC Move

On January 27, the Madras High Court cancelled that earlier order. The court said some scenes in Jana Nayagan, related to the Indian Army and religious sentiments, needed proper review.

After this, the CBFC filed a caveat in the Supreme Court. The board requested that no order regarding the release of Jana Nayagan should be passed without hearing its side.

What Happens Next for Jana Nayagan

With the case now withdrawn, Jana Nayagan will go before the CBFC’s revising committee. Fans are waiting for an official announcement about the film’s new release date.

This latest update has given new hope that Jana Nayagan will soon finish the censor process and reach theatres.
