Mustafa Suleyman Breaks Silence on AI Talent War, Microsoft Refuses Mega Pay Deals

As the global race for artificial intelligence grows faster, big tech companies are spending huge amounts to hire top AI experts. But Mustafa Suleyman, CEO of Microsoft AI, has clearly said that Microsoft will not offer extremely high salaries or massive signing bonuses to attract talent.

According to Mustafa Suleyman, Microsoft believes in building strong teams, not buying talent with money alone.

Mustafa Suleyman Reacts to Meta’s High-Pay AI Hiring

Speaking on Bloomberg’s The Mishal Husain Show, Mustafa Suleyman talked about reports claiming that Meta is offering AI experts up to $300 million over four years. Some researchers were reportedly offered more than $100 million in the first year itself.

“I don’t think anyone is matching those offers,” Mustafa Suleyman said. He also pointed out that hiring many individuals without focusing on team building is not the right strategy for long-term success.

Microsoft’s AI Hiring Plan Under Mustafa Suleyman

Under the leadership of Mustafa Suleyman, Microsoft is following a slow and careful hiring process. The company is choosing people who match its work culture and can work well in teams for the long term.

Even though Microsoft works closely with OpenAI, Mustafa Suleyman wants Microsoft to grow its own AI strength in a stable and sustainable way.

Mustafa Suleyman Believes Teams Matter More Than Money

Based on his experience as a co-founder of DeepMind, Mustafa Suleyman said that real success in AI comes from teamwork, trust, and shared goals ‐ not from single star employees.

He believes companies should focus on creating teams that last for many years instead of chasing short-term success with high salaries job.

AI Job Changes Are Normal, Says Mustafa Suleyman

Mustafa Suleyman also accepted that high salaries and job changes are common in the AI industry. He said that people moving between companies, such as Microsoft executives joining other tech firms, is a normal part of the industry.

“There is no rule stopping people from changing jobs,” Mustafa Suleyman said. “Everyone is free to choose where they want to work.”

Mustafa Suleyman’s Culture-First Approach Stands Out

While companies like Meta, Google, and OpenAI continue to spend billions on AI talent and technology, Mustafa Suleyman’s approach at Microsoft is different.
