Ration Card KYC made compulsory for free ration users

If you are taking free or subsidised ration from a government scheme, this update is very important for you. The government has made ration card KYC mandatory for all beneficiaries. As per the latest notice, ration card holders must complete their e-KYC by 30 December 2025. If this process is not completed within the given time, the ration card may be cancelled and ration benefits can be stopped. This announcement has been issued especially for ration card holders in Nalanda district of Bihar.

Why ration card KYC deadline was extended

In Nalanda, many beneficiaries were unable to complete ration card KYC due to server problems, technical issues, and lack of proper information. Keeping these difficulties in mind, the Bihar government has extended the last date to 30 December 2025. Beneficiaries should note that the ration card KYC process is completely free of cost, and no one needs to pay any money for it.

What happens if ration card KYC is not completed

If ration card KYC is not done before the deadline, the beneficiary’s name can be removed from the ration card list. After removal, the person will not get subsidised ration or free food grains. The central government has clearly stated that without identity verification through ration card KYC, no benefits will be given under the scheme.

What to do if your name is removed from the ration card list

If your name is deleted due to incomplete ration card KYC, there is no need to worry. You should immediately visit your nearest ration shop or the Food and Supply Office. You can apply again using your Aadhaar card, registered mobile number, and other required documents. If there is any mistake in Aadhaar details or mobile number, it must be corrected first to complete ration card KYC smoothly.

Why the government made ration card KYC mandatory

The main aim of making ration card KYC compulsory is to bring transparency to the ration distribution system. In many cases, fake ration cards were found, and free ration was being taken by ineligible people or even in the names of deceased persons. Through ration card KYC, such problems will be stopped and the benefits of free ration schemes will reach only genuine and needy families.
